What Does GSC Do?
In 1995 Global Scholars Canada became the Canadian chapter of an organization called Global Scholars based in Kansas City.

GSC’s Executive Director, Dr. Peter Schuurman, shares more about what GSC does:
Global Scholars Canada focuses on the development and support of Christian scholars who are Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada and wish to serve at open-enrollment campuses worldwide.
GSC scholars teach in the context of a Christian worldview and values.

In nations where there may be little to no existing witness to the gospel, these scholars are salt and light (Matthew 5:13-14) for future leaders.
They are God’s ambassadors who are “seeking the peace (shalom) of the city,” (Jeremiah 29:7) through their presence on campuses worldwide.
Over the years we have been blessed with quality faculty serving in selfless ways around the world.
More than 130 scholars have served in more than 45 countries.

GSC is a partner in the Society of Christian Scholars – an initiative of Global Scholars in equipping and supporting the community of christian academics worldwide.

Our desire is to continue to expand our efforts globally, wherever God leads us, so that we may continue to stand at the intersection of the academy and culture.
Why Focus on Academics?
In many nations only a small fraction of the population is able to attend university.
University graduates are destined to be cultural leaders in their home countries.
GSC offers the opportunity to redemptively influence the next generation of leaders worldwide through Christian academics who equip students to lead well while introducing them to the gospel.
Our scholars also have influence beyond the classroom:
- Afghanistan – invited to provide leadership training for university presidents, deans and academic officers in Afghanistan.
- Nigeria – asked by the federal government to develop a faith-based AIDS awareness program for every public elementary and secondary school in the nation. Hundreds of thousands of students each year learned about biblical values.

We invite you to join us in this unique and highly strategic mission!
“The university is a clear-cut fulcrum with which to move the world … Change the university and you will change the world.”
Dr. Charles Malik, former U.N. President
