Scholarships Support African Education

At Global Scholars Canada, we strive to build the church in Africa by buttressing educational opportunities for students. By supporting scholarships for students in The Gambia, people who would otherwise be unable to afford tuition are given an opportunity to get a B.A. in Christian Religious Studies and now even an M.A. in Biblical Studies from the national university. Graduates of these programs go on to be elders, deacons, pastors, teachers, chaplains, and much more. 

I was able to travel to The Gambia in 2024 and meet the students and teachers in person. There I witnessed the dominant culture of Islam (The Gambia is at least 90 percent Muslim), and how this small program lent strength to the church so it might bear witness and even grow in this context. In this video you will meet the program’s director, Dr. Manhee Yoon, and our Canadian ambassador to the program, Dr. Glen Taylor. You will also meet some of the pastors, a bishop, and others who work with us to make this program flourish in the heart of the national university.
