Christian Studies International becomes Global Scholars Canada

On May 1, 2015 Industry Canada approved an application by Christian Studies International (CSI) to change its corporate name to Global Scholars Canada (GSC). The application was based on the unanimous consent of the CSI Board at a special meeting held in April, 2015.

The corporate name change is designed to communicate more clearly GSC’s primary mission: to recruit and support Christian professors to teach overseas – global scholars who provide students with an education rooted in a biblical worldview, preparing them to be godly servant leaders in every sector of society in their home country. The name change also clearly signals GSC’s affiliation with its US-based partner, which changed its name from the International Institute for Christian Studies (IICS) to Global Scholars in 2013.

Coming in the organization’s 20th year, the name change reflects GSC’s desire to raise public awareness of its mission and to facilitate the recruitment of a new generation of Christian professors eager to use their talents and insights to serve students in areas of the world where the needs and hunger for higher education are great.

In conjunction with the name change, GSC has adopted a new logo and developed a new website. A special dinner to mark the organization’s 20th anniversary, to celebrate the new identity, and to honour long-serving staff will be held on October 24th at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, ON.
